Karl Bitar to support the not-for-profit sector

‘We are delighted that Karl Bitar has agreed to take on a six month appointment as a Strategic Advisor to the Community Council for Australia.  His experience knowledge and commitment to building stronger communities will certainly enhance our work,’ said CCA CEO, David Crosbie.

Karl Bitar is the outgoing Secretary of the Australia Labor Party.  He has a long history of advocating for marginalized workers and communities across Australia.

Mr Bitar said he was pleased to have an opportunity to contribute to the work of CCA.

‘I think CCA is a very important organisation for the future of Australia.  It is still in its first year of operation, but already it is making a difference.  I believe I have a skill set that can contribute to its growth and to the achievement of its mission.  It is a great opportunity to contribute to something I am committed to’, he said.

CCA is an independent, non-political member-based organisation dedicated to building flourishing communities primarily by enhancing the extraordinary work and effort undertaken within the not-for profit sector in Australia.  CCA seeks to change the way governments, communities and the not-for-profit sector relate to one another.  This includes establishing a regulatory environment that works for community organisations and not against them.

The Rev Tim Costello is Chair of CCA and members include major not-for profit organisations from the arts, social services, animal welfare, sporting groups, volunteering, social enterprises and health.
